What are the best type of false nails?

I would like to get my nails done for my holiday. I haven't a clue what the difference is between acyrlics and tips etc. I like the french manicure look but last hol i went on I got my natural nails painted that way and they cracked as soon as I picked up my suitcase. So I guessed false was the best way to go.


Has anyone had any of these treatments done, what does it involve and how long do they last? Is any better than others? Im going to a salon that has Acrylics on the price list and something called refills??? If anyone can tell me what this means cos im pretty clueless lol.


Also I don't want them too long as I wear contact lenses. (Ive also heard you have to be careful when wiping your bum!) :-sWhat are the best type of false nails?
If you're afterns something that lasts a while, then I would go for acrylics. They basically used a powder that turns into a thick gooey liquid on contact with a chemical they use, and this sets the false nails to your nails. As your nails grow, the false nail grown with it and the refils are to ';fill in'; the gap at the bottom by adding some more the of acrylic substance. They look very nautral and last a long time.





Tips are when you only have the ';white bit'; stuck on the top of your nail - ideal if you already have quite long nails, but they aren't as secure as full nails.





Alternatively, if you only want false nails for a week or so or a special occasion, then I would go for a the ones you can buy in a pack (make sure you get the ones with the glue in a seperate bottle, not the 'pre glued' ones).





Another alternative is Gel Wraps. They are longer term like the acrylic nails, but the gel allows your natural nails to breath a bit better and stay in better condition. They are also better if you're a nail biter as it sets rock hard and is impossible to nibble!





PS - I don't know anyone who has had problems with false nails so please don't be put off by the above post. Only reason you would have a problem is if you have them on for months and months at a time without letting your own nails breath, or if you have very bad nails to start with.

okay well how long they are doesnt matter because either way, you can file them down.


Tips, are when they get just the white tips on the end of your nail and they file the surface of them down so its level with your real nail.


Acrylic nails are the best, because they are really strong and if you want to paint them and stuff then its fine and you can remove nail polish with nail polish remover and nothing will happen. But if you used normal false nails that arent acrylic, they would dissolve. Acrylic nails are more expensive but they are by far the best.
None they all look horrible FALSE and cheap. Get someone else to pick up your suitcase.

are you right or left handed?? i am right handed and wear contacts. so the thumb and first finger nails i keep shorter for this reason.


an active shorter length to start with is always better...


the ';fill';'; is for those who wear artificail nails all the time.. and when it start to grow out, they fill in the new growth area..just like when you dye your hair and the roots start to show...
I have had false nails for about 5 months now, once you have had the first set put on every 2 weeks u will need to get them infilled, as the acrylic grows out. If i was you i would ask for white tips, you will not need them painted therefore they wont get chipped when you are away. Where i live white tips are about 拢3 more than normal tips, About 拢25. You can have the nail extentions any lengh you want just tell the shop if they are 2 long while they are doing them.Hope this helps.
DONT GET THEM!!!! The glue used on your nails eats away at your nails. A friend of mine got them on for her wedding and when they came off, her nails were paper. If you are scared of a manicure cracking easy (which they do:) just go for a nude nail polish. It will still make your nails look great and you wont have to worry about transparent, paper nails after. I have at least 25 friends with fake nails and not ONE says they like them, and they cant wait to get them off! Good luck and have fun on holiday!!! I am jelouse:)
